Worst Night Ever!

How many of you use your check card all the time? I bet alot. Well April 14th I was the unfortunate one to be included in the Hannaford fiasco. My night started off good it was a typical night with the boys. AJ had baseball practice. Patrick wanted to go to Walmart. I balanced the check book everything was fine until I took AJ to McDonald’s after practice. My debit card wouldn’t work so I shrugged it off as their machine wasn’t working. So home we go. I did the dishes and some other stuff when a nagging voice told me to check my account online. When I went online I had the shock of my life. Our account had been wiped out! I called the bank to find out what happen. Apparently I bought airline tickets to:

Bangkok, Singapore, Roma, Hong Kong, Queensway, Taiwan, Phillippines, Amaridulity, & the list goes on. Oh and lets not forget the Hotel.

Needless to say I’m not enjoying my expensive tour of China. So as I sit here pennyless and watching my bank account go deeper into a black hole that will probably won’t see the light for six months as the worst case scenario or on the positive side two months. Now I’m thinking of having a pool on when you all think we’ll get the money back. For those of you who don’t know me well I’d put my money on the six months.

So back to my dilemma. I called the bank on the 24 hour hot line. Where the night manager told me that someone at work must have stole my card and bought these tickets. Yeah Right buddy! So anyways he shut down my card and was suppose to start a file and freeze the account so no more charges could get in. So after a sleepness night I check my account online and more charges went through. So off to work I go because I’m so dedicated plus I had to wait for the bank to open. I was able to stop my paycheck from being direct deposited into the growing abyss and being lost for ever. Al was able to stop his as well thank God.

10am I’m at the bank with the window teller because she thinks she can help me with the breach into my account. I give her my account number and her exact words. “Oh my God!” Needless to say she brought me right over to a customer service person. The customer service woman tells me I should be all set because I talked to someone last night, but she would double check. Well when she checked she went to the manager of the bank and told them that they didn’t start a file or freeze the account. So they immediately froze the account and started printing out 20 pages of transactions that were attacking my account. (Mental picture of the credit card commercial of the vikings baring down on a couple except they got through to us.) Thank god someone woke up at head office and thought hey there maybe a problem with some of these and didn’t let them in. So after pouring over all the transactions and filling out paperwork for each transaction. I left the bank emotional and financial drained. Oh yeah before I forget each transaction that got through the bank also charged me bank fees for being over drawn. I’m assured that they will reverse all those, but right now I don’t have any faith left in me.
